Crypto: Tucker Carlson Interviews Nayib Bukele on Bitcoin #Crypto

Tucker Carlson interviewed El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele, but surprisingly, they did not discuss cryptocurrency. Bukele, known for making Bitcoin legal tender in 2021, has seen low local adoption with only 12% using BTC last year. Despite announcing plans for a Bitcoin City, the project has yet to materialize. However, El Salvador’s BTC reserves have grown to 5,777 BTC, worth $379.9 million with $69 million in paper profits.

Instead of crypto, the interview focused on Bukele’s efforts to lower the homicide rate and his economic plans. Despite praise for his leadership, independent observers question the accuracy of crime statistics and criticize the handling of arrests. Bukele’s popularity is partly attributed to his controversial court reforms allowing him to seek multiple terms. The interview lacked critical scrutiny and overlooked significant issues. Bukele’s Bitcoin initiative remains a small part of a broader, complex leadership narrative.
