The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) will collaborate with CoinDesk Market Indexes to launch products tracking Bitcoin prices. This cash-settled index will enable options trading against Bitcoin, benefiting traditional traders and investors.
Jon Herrick, Chief Product Officer at NYSE, stated this will offer investors a transparent risk-management tool upon regulatory approval. The CoinDesk Bitcoin Price Index (XBX) tracks Bitcoin’s real-time spot price in U.S. dollars across multiple exchanges and is the longest-operating spot Bitcoin index.
This collaboration aligns with the positive sentiment around Bitcoin, following the approval of a spot Bitcoin ETF. It signifies NYSE’s entry into the growing crypto market trend. The NYSE, the world’s largest stock exchange with a $39 trillion market cap, aims to simplify Bitcoin options trading for traditional Wall Street traders.
Investors can now trade cash-settled options, allowing them to hedge or speculate on Bitcoin price movements without needing new financial instruments. This collaboration showcases NYSE’s strategic move to integrate crypto with traditional finance, potentially broadening market participation and enhancing risk management.
