Starknet Enhances Bitcoin Scalability Without New Tokens

StarkWare announced plans to expand its Starknet scaling technology to the Bitcoin network, without forking Starknet or creating a new token. The company’s primary focus remains on scaling Ethereum using validity rollups and ZK proofs, as highlighted in a recent X post.

Starknet will serve both Ethereum and Bitcoin as an execution layer, driven by the STRK token. This initiative aims to address scalability challenges for major blockchains, leveraging Starknet’s technology to create a single layer that settles on both Bitcoin and Ethereum.

StarkWare anticipates completing the solution within six months following the potential Bitcoin OP_CAT upgrade, which aims to integrate smart contracts into Bitcoin. This move underscores StarkWare’s commitment to enhancing the scalability and integrity of blockchains they believe in, marking a significant step in blockchain technology advancement.
