CME Group to Launch Options on Bitcoin Friday Futures
- CME Group announced the introduction of options on Bitcoin Friday futures, launching on Feb. 24.
- The contracts are CME’s first financially settled crypto options product, pending regulatory approval.
- Bitcoin Friday futures have seen over 775,000 contracts traded since Sept. 29, with an average daily volume of 9,700.
- 44% of these contracts were traded during non-US hours.
The new options aim to provide traders with tools for managing short-term Bitcoin price risk and will complement CME’s existing suite of crypto derivatives. Giovanni Vicioso emphasized the capital efficiency and precision offered by daily expiries from Monday through Friday.
