El Salvador Launches Website to Track $360M Bitcoin Treasury

In 2021, El Salvador became the first country to make Bitcoin legal tender, under President Nayib Bukele’s leadership. Recently, they launched a website (bitcoin.gob.sv) to track their Bitcoin treasury, showcasing their commitment to financial transparency. This unique platform provides real-time data on the country’s 5,748 BTC reserves, valued at approximately $360 million, accumulated through daily purchases, bulk buys, and geothermal-powered mining.

The initiative sets a historic precedent for governmental openness in financial operations, leveraging Bitcoin’s auditability. With the country already enjoying $57 million in unrealized profit, this move promotes confidence in El Salvador’s Bitcoin strategy and serves as a beacon for other nations considering similar paths. The website not only underscores El Salvador’s pioneering role in the global Bitcoin landscape but also aims to attract further investment and innovation to the nation.
