Hashdex has submitted an application to the SEC for a spot cryptocurrency ETF, aiming to invest in Bitcoin and Ethereum. A decision on the ETF is expected by March 2025.
The ETF will primarily invest in Bitcoin, making up over 70% of its portfolio, and Ethereum, with potential inclusion of other crypto assets based on market cap. The Nasdaq Crypto US Settlement Price Index will track the fund.
Hashdex’s Brazilian ETF, which allocates 90% to Bitcoin and Ethereum and includes assets like Solana and Ripple, serves as a model for the proposed U.S. product. If approved, this would be the first spot cryptocurrency ETF in the U.S., offering low fees and asset diversification.
This ETF could pave the way for broader regulatory acceptance and foster growth in the cryptocurrency market, marking a significant step toward mainstream adoption.
