Bitcoin Emoji Removed: Impact on Platform X

Platform X (formerly Twitter) recently removed the Bitcoin emoji, along with those for other cryptocurrencies. This change followed the controversial introduction of an emoji for Donald Trump’s campaign.

The Bitcoin emoji, added in February 2020 by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, auto-appeared after hashtags like #bitcoin or #btc. Elon Musk explained that the removal aimed to phase out special advertising hashtags, following backlash over the Trump emoji, which was part of a paid campaign.

Users expressed disappointment, but Autism Capital clarified this was Musk’s planned decision to eliminate hashtag emojis. The change underscores X’s evolving advertising policies and the need to clearly distinguish between organic content and paid ads.

By removing these emojis, X aims to influence how cryptocurrencies are promoted, potentially affecting user engagement and market trends. This shift highlights the platform’s crucial role in shaping public perception of digital assets.
