Bitcoin Holds $80,000 as Ethereum Declines Further

Bitcoin briefly fell to $79,732.3, but its four-hour candles closed above $80,000. It was trading near $82,883 within a broad $80,000-$88,000 range. The author said a move to the middle of that range did not confirm a breakout and would not open new trades inside $80,000-$85,000.

Ethereum reached $2,313.39 after breaking its prior week’s and prior month’s lows. The author described its price structure as bearish and said no new trades would be opened inside $2,380-$2,480. The U.S. Dollar Index reversed after reaching 102.945; the author cited upcoming U.S. economic data and geopolitical developments as potential sources of volatility.
