Bitcoin Miners Dominate 26.6% Global Hashrate

Publicly listed U.S. bitcoin miners now control 26.6% of the global hashrate, a historic milestone achieved in June 2024, according to a JPMorgan report. This growth highlights the increasing influence of these companies in the cryptocurrency mining sector.

The market capitalization of these firms surged by 29% since late June 2024, driven by AI integration in mining operations. Bitcoin network’s overall hashrate grew by 1% in June, with U.S.-listed miners contributing around 17 EH/s to their output.

Key players such as Riot Platforms, Bitfarms, and CleanSpark led this growth. AI integration is seen as a strategic frontier, with Core Scientific partnering with CoreWeave and HUT 8 receiving a $150 million investment from Coatue Management.

The rising market share and technological advancements of U.S.-listed bitcoin miners underscore their pivotal role in the evolving cryptocurrency landscape. Their growing influence and AI integration promise significant implications for innovation and investment.
