Bundestag Demands Government Stop Bitcoin Sales

On July 5, 2024, Bundestag member Joana Cotar criticized the German government for selling its Bitcoin holdings. She urged officials to rethink their strategy and align with the U.S., which treats Bitcoin as a strategic reserve asset.

Cotar invited key officials to a lecture on October 17, featuring discussions on the strategic use of Bitcoin for economic stability. Notable speakers, like Samson Mow, will also explore government bonds backed by Bitcoin, which could attract new investors.

The German government recently sold Bitcoin worth $195 million but still holds 41,226 BTC, valued at $2.28 billion. They plan to sell an additional 3,000 BTC soon.

This debate is crucial for the global crypto market, affecting market stability and investor confidence. Cotar’s call for a revised Bitcoin strategy could shape future financial policies and enhance economic resilience.
