Mercado Bitcoin said on Nov. 2, 2026, that it had detected and contained a security incident involving about $38 million in assets. It suspended deposits, withdrawals and access to its services while it investigated. The platform said clients suffered no losses and no data was leaked.
Mercado Bitcoin said it had frozen $11 million and identified other amounts that could be frozen. Chainalysis separately said it helped freeze nearly $10 million stolen in the hack; the source does not establish whether that sum is included in Mercado Bitcoin’s figure. Mercado Bitcoin said it would restore services after meeting security requirements and had not announced a timetable.
