MicroStrategy Buys $786M in Bitcoin

MicroStrategy, led by Michael Saylor, has acquired 11,931 BTC for $786 million, increasing its holdings to 226,331 BTC. This purchase, financed through senior convertible notes, demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to Bitcoin.

The average acquisition price of the new purchase was $65,883 per Bitcoin, while the overall average cost for their holdings stands at $36,798 per Bitcoin. With Bitcoin trading near $66,000, MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin portfolio is now valued at around $14.9 billion, revealing an unrealized profit of $6.6 billion.

This acquisition not only strengthens MicroStrategy’s position but also signals to the market the potential value of Bitcoin as a reserve asset. The strategy of using convertible notes for financing highlights a smart financial maneuver, reinforcing confidence in Bitcoin’s long-term value.

MicroStrategy’s actions may influence other institutional investors to consider Bitcoin, potentially accelerating its adoption in corporate treasury strategies. This move underscores the strategic importance of Bitcoin in modern financial planning.
