Tether CEO Says Company Controls 150,000 BTC

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said at the Plan ₿ Forum that the company holds roughly 150,000 bitcoin, worth about $11.5 billion. That is about 50,000 bitcoin more than the amount calculated from Tether’s USDT reserves report, which listed $8.37 billion in bitcoin as of Sept. 30, 2026.

Ardoino did not say where the additional coins are held or when Tether acquired them. The difference does not necessarily mean Tether bought bitcoin recently or that USDT lacks sufficient backing; Tether has said its proprietary investments are accounted for separately from USDT reserves. Ardoino also said Tether serves more than 730 million users and is developing infrastructure for mining, energy and AI.
