WBTC says it is preparing to move to new Custodian Bitcoin Deposit Addresses and has announced that it is exploring a multi-custodian reserve model. The move is not described as complete, and address migration alone would not make WBTC quantum-resistant. The security effect depends on address types and transaction histories; a multi-custodian model would not directly address quantum risks.
WBTC says a future quantum-resistant transition could also require changes to custody systems and the BTC held in reserve. No publicly demonstrated quantum computer can currently carry out the described attack at scale.
