Bitcoin ETF Exposure Hits $1B Milestone

Abu Dhabi Funds Increase Bitcoin ETF Holdings Despite Market Decline

  • Abu Dhabi-based funds held over $1 billion in BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF (IBIT) by the end of 2025.
  • Mubadala Investments and Al Warda Investments collectively owned nearly 21 million shares of IBIT, with stakes valued at approximately $630 million and $408 million respectively.
  • Mubadala increased its holdings by nearly four million shares in Q4, while Al Warda added around 255,000 shares during the same period.
  • Despite these increases, IBIT shares have fallen by about 22.5% year-to-date, reducing their combined exposure to around $803 million.
  • Overall, Bitcoin ETFs have lost more than $21 billion in assets under management since the start of the year.

Abu Dhabi investment funds significantly increased their holdings in BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF during Q4 of last year despite a declining market value for Bitcoin ETFs overall. This strategic move highlights a strong institutional interest in Bitcoin even as market conditions fluctuate.

The collective exposure of Mubadala Investments and Al Warda Investments to IBIT has decreased due to market declines but remains substantial at approximately $803 million, underscoring ongoing confidence in cryptocurrency investments among major financial players. Source
