BBVA to Launch Bitcoin and Ethereum Trading for Private Clients
- Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) will offer Bitcoin and Ethereum transactions via its app.
- The service will initially be available to a small group of users, expanding to private customers in Spain.
- BBVA has met the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) requirements.
- Similar services have been offered by BBVA in Switzerland since 2021 and Turkey since January 2025.
- Revolut is one of the few mainstream banks offering crypto trading to retail consumers since 2017.
Spain’s second-largest bank, BBVA, plans to enable Bitcoin and Ethereum transactions through its app, initially targeting private banking clients in Spain after meeting EU regulatory standards.
