McRib Does Not Actually Boost Bitcoin Price

McDonald’s has brought the McRib back to menus in certain U.S. states, reviving a claim among some crypto traders that its return precedes a rise in Bitcoin. Experts reject the link: a chart comparing 10 McRib returns with Bitcoin’s weekly close showed clear gains in only three cases, and GSR researcher Carlos Guzman said there is no causal mechanism.

Analysts said the Federal Reserve’s next rate decision is a more likely driver of Bitcoin’s next move. Blockworks analyst Jake Koch-Gallup said he would expect an upward move if rates stay the same and ETF inflows continue, but said a rate increase could bring the $75,000–$77,000 range back into play.
