Quantus CEO Christopher Smith has proposed using EIP-8130 and EIP-8355 to let EVM accounts adopt optional post-quantum signatures without changing their addresses. He said the approach could protect user accounts and some administrator keys, but it has not been implemented or tested as a combined design.
The proposal would not make a whole blockchain quantum-resistant. Validator signatures, bridges, some proofs and other protocol components would need further work. Existing wallets would not be protected by protocol support alone; self-custody users would likely need new seed phrases and to transfer their assets. Ethereum’s broader roadmap targets a quantum-resistant Layer 1 around December 2029.
