Elon Musk’s xAI has teamed up with Oracle to create a supercomputer aimed at advancing xAI’s AI model, Grok. The partnership, dubbed a “Gigafactory of Compute,” will focus on building a robust supercomputer architecture, expanding xAI’s GPU count from 10,000 to 100,000 GPUs.
In April, Musk sought $4 billion in funding, which later increased to $6 billion due to investor interest, valuing xAI at $18 billion. During the VivaTech 2024 conference, Musk projected that xAI would rival AI leaders OpenAI and DeepMind by the end of 2024, and speculated that AI could surpass human capabilities by 2025.
Recently, xAI launched its Grok chatbot in Europe, marking a significant expansion. This phased rollout aims to increase AI tool accessibility worldwide, aligning with CEO Linda Yaccarino’s vision for broader market presence.
The strategic partnership with Oracle and the ambitious expansion plans underscore xAI’s potential to reshape AI capabilities and influence global AI strategies.
