Aptos and Alibaba Cloud have launched a new initiative in Japan to promote smart contract programming languages in the Asia-Pacific region. Announced on June 28, this collaboration aims to enhance Japan’s blockchain ecosystem and regional accessibility in APAC.
Under this partnership, they introduced Alcove, a co-branded developer community focusing on the Move programming language. Alcove’s first event is a meetup co-hosted by OKCoin Japan and Alibaba Cloud, showcasing the benefits of web3 and digital assets in Japan. Additionally, the Aptos Foundation will organize hackathons to educate the local community on blockchain potential.
Bashar Lazaar of Aptos Foundation emphasized the goal of creating a vibrant environment to nurture Japan’s growing interest in web3. Alibaba, via its Ant Group Digital Technologies, has been targeting blockchain, with notable developments like the launch of ZAN in September 2023 to provide blockchain tools.
This partnership is strategically crucial to fostering innovation and leveraging Japan’s IP strengths in the web3 space.
