Ethereum (ETH) co-founder Vitalik Buterin supports TiTok AI, a new image compression method, for encoding images onchain. Announced via his Warpcast social media account, Buterin praised TiTok AI for compressing images to 320 bits, making them small enough to go onchain for every user.
Originating from ByteDance and the University of Munich, TiTok AI uses a one-dimensional tokenization framework to overcome redundancies seen in previous methods. It compresses 256 by 256-pixel images into 32 distinct tokens, offering 410 times faster processing speeds.
This innovation can significantly aid developers and creators in making profile pictures and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) by streamlining image storage on blockchain platforms. TiTok AI’s advancements promise a more efficient and scalable future for blockchain-based visual content.
