Public firms’ blockchain revenue share doubled

Publicly traded companies accounted for 16% of blockchain industry revenue in 2026, up from 7% in 2022, according to a report by crypto investment firm 1kx. The report used data from more than 2,600 protocols and earnings reports from 104 public companies through the third quarter; it projected that overall blockchain revenue would fall 28% year over year to roughly $100 billion in 2026.

1kx attributed the companies’ larger share partly to new stock market listings and revenue growth at existing firms. Revenue was concentrated: the six largest public companies generated roughly 50% to 60% of the group’s revenue. The report also said broader economic activity brought in about $5.3 billion in the third quarter, exceeding blockchain infrastructure revenue of $5.1 billion for the first time.
