Ethereum Delays Glamsterdam Testnet Step Over Gas-Accounting Risks

Ethereum developers have postponed the Glamsterdam fork on the Hoodi testnet until compatibility issues are resolved, according to a November 6, 2026 update from the Ethereum Foundation. The Foundation said ChainSecurity found projects that may depend on gas-accounting assumptions that proposed changes in EIP-8037 and EIP-8038 would break. That does not mean every affected contract can be exploited, and the Ethereum network has not stopped functioning.

The Foundation is asking application teams to check their code and has published eight relevant assumptions for review. Work on the later Hegota upgrade will continue in parallel. The update gave no new final deployment date.
