The SEC named tokenization among its fiscal 2027 examination priorities in an October 23 announcement. The source also describes a separate, temporary SEC exemption for certain tokenized stock venues. It requires equivalent shareholder rights, issuer notification and a chance to object when an unaffiliated party tokenizes shares, as well as trading limits and public, auditable smart contracts.
