SEC’s 2027 Exam Priorities Include Tokenization, Market Infrastructure

The US Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Examinations published its fiscal 2027 priorities on October 23, 2026, identifying tokenization and evolving market infrastructure among risks for a programme covering more than 34,000 registrants. The SEC says the priority list is not exhaustive and may change with market events, investor concerns and new products.

The document sets examination priorities; it does not announce a new crypto-token classification rule or an enforcement action. It applies to entities within the SEC’s remit, not every decentralised software project, and does not establish that particular firms have broken the law.
