Ethereum Testnet Boosts Block Limit 300%

Ethereum Sepolia Testnet Activates Glamsterdam Upgrade

  • The Ethereum Sepolia testnet activated the Glamsterdam upgrade on October 6, raising the block gas limit to nearly 200 million.
  • Sepolia blocks numbered from 11,872,013 to 11,872,037 used between approximately 47.1 million and 85.9 million gas, which is about 24% to 43% of the new limit.
  • The mainnet’s gas limit remains at its current level of 60 million, with no scheduled date for an upgrade.

The Ethereum Sepolia test network has significantly increased its block gas limit with the Glamsterdam upgrade. Despite this increase, the main Ethereum network continues to operate under a lower gas limit of just 60 million.

The move allows developers to experiment with higher transaction capacities without impacting real-value transactions on the main network. (Source)
