Crypto exchange Binance has announced an update to the collateral ratios for several crypto assets, including popular meme coins PEPE, BONK, and BANANA. Effective from July 30, 2024, the new ratios aim to enhance the trading experience and reduce liquidation risks.
PEPE’s collateral ratio will increase from 60% to 75%, while BONK and NEAR will also see their ratios rise to 75%. Other assets like BANANA and BB will jump from 10% to 50%, and ZRO and IO will be raised from 30% to 50%.
This update will impact the Unified Maintenance Margin Ratio (uniMMR), necessitating close monitoring by users to avoid potential liquidation losses. The collateral ratio, calculated by Total Collateral Value/Total Borrowed Value, is crucial in crypto trading and DeFi to manage risk.
Binance’s move is expected to influence market dynamics, offering greater security for traders.
