Binance Denied as Greece Welcomes First MiCA Entrants

Greece Joins EU Crypto Regulatory Register with Four Providers

  • Greece has entered the European Union’s crypto regulatory register for the first time, adding four providers.
  • The new entrants are BCash, Xenios Blockchain Group, Capital Wallet Greece, and Piraeus Bank.
  • The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) updated the register to include a total of 359 unique providers.
  • Binance withdrew its application for MiCA authorization in Greece on June 24, missing the chance to be the first authorized provider.
  • Oversight of MiCA in Greece is split between the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC) and the Bank of Greece.

The addition of these providers marks a significant step for Greece in implementing MiCA regulations, allowing multiple authorities to oversee crypto activities within the country.

With four new entries, Greece’s regulatory framework is evolving as it aligns with EU standards while Binance’s withdrawal highlights challenges in securing authorization under MiCA.(Source)
