Crypto Mixers Used After Bybit Heist

Bybit Hackers Use Crypto Mixers After $1.4 Billion Theft

  • The Bybit hack involved the theft of approximately 500,000 ETH, valued at $1.4 billion.
  • Hackers are using Wasabi, CryptoMixer, Railgun, and Tornado Cash to launder stolen funds.
  • 86.29% of the stolen ETH has been converted to Bitcoin and distributed across 9,117 wallets.
  • 88.87% of the assets remain traceable; however, 7.59% have “gone dark” and are likely unrecoverable.
  • An additional 3.54% of funds have been frozen through coordination with exchanges.

The Bybit hack is attributed to North Korea’s Lazarus Group and remains the largest crypto theft in history. Despite challenges posed by crypto mixers, recovery efforts continue with a bounty program receiving thousands of reports since the attack.
