Kraken Acquires Bitnomial for $550 Million

Kraken’s Parent Company Payward to Acquire Bitnomial for $550 Million

  • Payward, the parent company of cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, has agreed to acquire Bitnomial for up to $550 million in cash and stock.
  • The acquisition values Payward’s equity at $20 billion, consistent with its valuation from a previous funding round.
  • Bitnomial possesses all three CFTC-issued licenses necessary to operate a full-stack domestic crypto trading and derivatives business.
  • The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2026.
  • Deutsche Börse recently invested $200 million into Payward for a stake of approximately 1.5%.

This acquisition allows Payward to expand its B2B infrastructure platform by adding regulated U.S. derivatives capabilities through Bitnomial’s comprehensive CFTC licensing framework.

With this deal, Payward aims to enhance its crypto trading services by integrating Bitnomial’s native clearing infrastructure designed specifically for digital assets, marking a significant step in the company’s growth strategy. (Source)
