Ethereum Staking: MetaMask Launches Service with Catch #Ethereum

MetaMask, developed by Consensys, has launched a new pooled staking service for Ethereum. This allows users to stake any amount of Ether (ETH), but it is not available for users in the U.S. and the U.K. due to regulatory issues.

Before this service, staking directly with validators required at least 32 ETH, making it inaccessible to many. The new service uses the StakeWise protocol, which supports staking any amount. This opens up opportunities for more users to participate in Ethereum staking.

Currently, MetaMask’s pooled staking relies on over 33,000 hosted Ethereum validators, with more than 1 million ETH staked. Consensys reports that 99.9% of these validators are active, and none have been penalized.

This service simplifies staking and enhances Ethereum’s security, making it a significant milestone. The long-term importance lies in its potential to democratize staking and strengthen the Ethereum network.
