Ethereum Supply Surge Dampens Spot ETF Enthusiasm

Investors are buzzing with excitement as the spot Ethereum ETF approval approaches in three days. However, there’s a growing concern about the surging ETH supply, which has been increasing by 60,000 ETH per month since April.

Historically, Ethereum’s supply changes could negate the reduction achieved since the Merge event in September 2022 if the current trend continues. Notably, the Ethereum supply has risen by 150,000 ETH in the past three months.

Benjamin Cowen, a well-known market analyst, emphasizes that monetary policy will be crucial for Ethereum’s price movement. He suggests that a major surge in ETH may be unlikely until the Federal Reserve pivots to quantitative easing.

Despite the excitement around the spot Ethereum ETF, significant inflows are not expected immediately. Analysts predict potential multi-billion dollar inflows by the end of 2024. However, some caution that a ‘sell-the-news’ event could occur post-approval.

The strategic importance lies in how the ETF might absorb the increased supply, impacting Ethereum’s long-term value. The broader implications suggest monitoring both the ETF performance and monetary policy shifts closely.
