USDT Triumphs Over Persistent FUD Rumors

At BTC Prague, CryptoSlate’s James Van Straten engaged with Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino about the ongoing FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) surrounding Tether. Reflecting on 2022, Paolo highlighted Tether’s resilience amid industry challenges and the predicted collapse of competitor Terra Luna.

In 2022, Tether faced a coordinated attack involving a short and bank run attempt, redeeming about 25 billion USDT in less than a month, proving its liquidity. Contrasting with traditional banks like Washington Mutual, Paolo emphasized Tether’s robust financial stability.

In 2023, major US bank failures showcased Tether’s prudent strategy of holding US Treasury bills, making it the third-largest holder of three-month T-bills globally. Paolo shared that Tether’s credibility was bolstered by partnerships with firms like Cantor Fitzgerald.

Addressing FUD, Paolo admitted past naivety in communication strategies and stressed the importance of transparency, backed by quarterly attestations from BDO. Despite regulatory challenges, Tether remains committed to proving its legitimacy and long-term stability.

Paolo’s insights underline Tether’s strategic focus on liquidity and transparency, ensuring its continued resilience in a volatile industry.
