Crypto exchange Bitbank is preparing for an initial public offering on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, aiming to expand its market presence amid growing interest in digital assets in Japan.
Founded in 2014, Bitbank has a capital base of ¥8.65 billion ($60 million). Major shareholders include co-founder Noriyuki Hirose, MIXI, Inc., and Ceres Inc.
In 2021, Bitbank secured ¥7.5 billion in funding to enhance its business and explore new ventures like NFTs and staking. This move positions Bitbank as the second Japanese crypto exchange to seek a public listing, following Coincheck’s planned Nasdaq debut.
