Scottie Pippen Rejoins $BALL Project Despite Backlash

NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen has recommitted to his Ethereum-based BALL project despite backlash from the crypto community. The project, launched on Aug. 2, faced immediate criticism, with users adding warnings to Pippen’s announcement post.

Crypto sleuth ZachXBT revealed that the BALL deployer address matched wallets used in past scams. Additionally, Pippen and the developer were spotted dumping $330,000 worth of BALL tokens in a single transaction.

Pippen claimed the withdrawal of 103 Ether was to “mitigate attacks,” but doubts remained as insiders controlled over 15% of BALL’s supply. Despite controversies and failed projects, celebrities continue to enter Web3, notably on Solana, which saw 30 memecoin launches last month.

The ongoing influx of public figures into Web3 highlights the strategic importance of celebrity influence in shaping the crypto landscape.
