Analysts consider possible short squeeze ahead of spot Ethereum ETF deadline

Analysts at QCP Capital and others are closely watching the potential for a spot Ethereum ETF, which, if approved, could significantly impact Ethereum’s value. Amid a quiet market, an unexpected approval could initiate a short squeeze, potentially catapulting ETH back to its recent highs near $4,066 or beyond. This comes as the ETH/BTC pair hits its lowest since February 2021, with Ethereum showing resilience at the $2,900 mark.
The standout aspect here is the possibility of a major market move based on the SEC’s decision, expected by May 23, on VanEck’s spot Ethereum ETF application. This scenario is unique because it could affirm Ethereum’s status beyond mere speculation, possibly redefining its market dynamics and investor perception.
The anticipation underscores the transformative potential of regulatory acceptance for cryptocurrencies, highlighting the strategic importance of ETFs in broadening crypto investment vehicles. Coinbase analyst David Han suggests the market might be underestimating the approval odds, hinting at a significant upside for Ethereum in the near term.
