Tether mints $1 billion USDT on Ethereum amid ETF anticipation

Tether, the stablecoin issuer, has minted $1 billion USDT on the Ethereum blockchain, anticipating a market rally with the potential approval of a spot ETH ETF by the SEC. This strategic move, reported by Whale Alert and confirmed by Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino, aims to boost liquidity in the crypto market.

This is part of Tether’s strategy to prepare for increased demand, marking a significant step as the company controls about 70% of the stablecoin market with a market cap exceeding $110 billion. The minting represents an “authorized but not issued” transaction, indicating these tokens are ready for future issuance and chain swaps, not yet contributing to the circulating supply.

The anticipation of an ETH ETF approval could lead to a dynamic and voluminous trading environment, demonstrating Tether’s influential role in the crypto ecosystem. This move underscores Tether’s proactive approach to market trends and its significant impact on liquidity and market readiness.
