Funding: Kintsu Startup Secures $4M from Castle Island

Kintsu, a cryptocurrency startup, secured $4 million in funding led by Castle Island Ventures, with participation from Brevan Howard Digital, CMT Digital, and others. The funding round, concluded by early July 2024, aims to advance Kintsu’s liquid staking protocol for the Monad blockchain.

Kintsu’s founder, Steven Novenstern, previously led development at decentralized exchange Pangolin. Initially focusing on the Aleph Zero blockchain, Kintsu pivoted to Monad, emphasizing innovative staking approaches. Novenstern likens proof-of-stake blockchains to digital nation-states, highlighting the economic impact of staking.

Kintsu plans to launch a liquid token, sMONAD, with Monad’s mainnet later this year. The funding will also support new hires and protocol development. This investment marks a significant milestone, reflecting investor confidence in Kintsu’s approach to enhancing staking efficiency and scalability.

Kintsu’s advancements could significantly benefit the broader crypto market by improving proof-of-stake blockchain performance.
