Sentient, an AI company, has secured $85 million in seed funding led by Pantera Capital and Founders Fund. The funding, which took place from March to May 2024, aims to revolutionize open-source AI development through community collaboration.
This investment round saw participation from 12 firms, including Ethereal Ventures, Delphi Ventures, and HashKey Capital. Sentient aims to challenge AI giants like OpenAI by focusing on decentralized, community-driven AI models.
Joey Krug of Founders Fund highlighted the project’s potential to address the incentive problem in open-source AI. Sentient plans to launch its test network in the third quarter of 2024 and expand its team from 20 to 30 experts.
This development underscores a shift towards democratizing AI technology, emphasizing transparency, ethics, and collaboration in the crypto and AI industries.
