A French court sentenced crypto holder Ayman R. to 30 months in prison on November 4 for firing a gun during an attempted kidnapping at his father’s home in Vendée. Vice-prosecutor Olivier Dubief said the shot was retaliation, not self-defense, because the attacker was no longer a threat when Ayman R. fired. A bullet landed above a garage door near children in the street.
The court also barred Ayman R. from carrying a weapon for 15 years and from Vendée for five years. His lawyer said he had been targeted in a separate crypto kidnapping in 2022. French authorities reported more than 70 crypto-related crimes by June.
