Graylark Technologies has built Raven, a tool that can infer a home address from an interior photo by matching room details to online property listings, without GPS or photo metadata. The Los Angeles Police Department and Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office have been testing it, but Graylark says access is restricted to law enforcement and vetted large customers.
Raven depends on publicly available, labeled images, so it can fail if a home has not been listed online or has been significantly altered. Reporting cited in the source suggests the Miami-Dade version was tailored to that county, rather than able to search everywhere. The tool’s use of images from sites such as Airbnb, Zillow and Vrbo has drawn objections about scraping, as well as legal and privacy questions.
