Thai authorities announced the arrest of Wu Chaoshuai, a Chinese national accused of helping a criminal organization launder money through cryptocurrency. Chinese authorities allege he recruited people to open bank and crypto-exchange accounts; he reportedly managed 133 accounts that processed more than $74 million in transactions.
Thai immigration police said Wu entered Thailand on a tourist visa in December 2019 and stayed after it expired. Thai authorities said they will charge him over the visa overstay and coordinate with Chinese authorities on extradition; neither step was reported as completed.
