Circle shareholder J. Benjamin Greenberg filed a derivative suit on Circle’s behalf against President Donald Trump, World Liberty Financial and others in Washington on October 22, 2026. The complaint alleges that Trump profited from foreign-government payments tied to a $500 million agreement for a 49% stake in World Liberty and a $2 billion MGX investment in Binance settled using World Liberty’s USD1 stablecoin. Greenberg also alleges that the use of USD1 left Circle unable to compete.
A judge has not ruled on the claims. Circle says it did not authorize or take part in the filing. World Liberty says it complies with U.S. law, and the White House rejects the allegations.
