ClearBank becomes first Dutch bank approved for crypto services under MiCA
- ClearBank Europe is the first Dutch credit institution cleared to provide crypto services under the EU’s Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulation.
- The bank has over 270 institutional clients and 1.7 million individual customers, managing more than $13 billion in assets.
- With approval from the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM), ClearBank can operate as a crypto asset service provider (CASP) without needing a new license.
- Clients will be able to convert between fiat currencies and stablecoins within a regulated banking environment.
- ClearBank plans to connect with Circle Internet’s Mint platform, offering access to EURC and USDC stablecoins.
This approval allows ClearBank to integrate digital asset capabilities into traditional banking systems, enhancing cross-border transfers and reducing settlement times. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to bridge banking infrastructure with digital asset markets across Europe and the U.K.
ClearBank’s move into digital clearing marks a significant step, enabling clients to access euro- and U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoins while managing over $13 billion in assets.(Source)
