MSCI said it will adopt a methodology to exclude non-operating companies from its Global Investable Market Indexes. Strategy and Metaplanet face possible removal under a simulation, but MSCI said it will release the final list of affected companies on November 11.
Under the method, an issuer that fails an initial screen for substantial operating costs is assessed against five financial ratios. It is excluded if flagged on at least four of the five; MSCI said it will remove constituents that fail the ineligibility screen in two of their most recent annual filings.
