Trump Eyes JPMorgan CEO for Treasury Secretary

Former US President Donald Trump is considering JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon for the role of Treasury Secretary, replacing Janet Yellen if he wins the upcoming election. This decision has sparked disappointment within the crypto community due to Dimon’s anti-Bitcoin stance.

In a Bloomberg interview, Trump confirmed he will not remove Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell before his term ends in 2026. Previously, Trump had criticized Dimon, calling him a “Highly overrated Globalist.”

The crypto market reacted strongly, with Bitcoin prices nearing $65,700. Traders are looking for further cues, especially as institutional and retail investors show increased interest. BTC futures and options trading has surged, with significant activity on Coinbase and CME futures.

Despite the market risks, Bitcoin’s price hit $66,000, up over 1% in 24 hours. This indicates a resilient buying sentiment amid expectations of Fed rate cuts in September.

The strategic importance lies in the potential shift in crypto regulation and market dynamics, depending on the final appointment and its implications for the crypto industry.
