Crypto Group Presses Harris on Digital Assets

The Digital Chamber, a prominent blockchain trade association, has called on U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris to embrace digital assets. On Monday, they sent a letter urging Harris to adopt a forward-looking stance on blockchain technology, just after Joe Biden endorsed her as the Democratic Party’s candidate for the 2024 election.

In their letter, the Chamber highlighted the potential for innovation, economic growth, and financial inclusion that digital assets offer. They emphasized the importance of pivoting towards a crypto-friendly approach, noting that over 50 million Americans own cryptocurrency.

Critics have labeled Biden’s administration as “anti-crypto,” pointing out his negative stance towards the sector. This outlook contributed to market fluctuations, with Bitcoin briefly surging above $68,000. The letter from the Digital Chamber reflects the hope for a more supportive government that aligns with crypto advocates.

Former President Donald Trump has also shown support for crypto, promising to end Biden’s “war on crypto” and vowing never to implement a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). He is set to speak at the Bitcoin 2024 convention, further emphasizing his commitment.

The strategic importance of this issue lies in its potential to position the U.S. as a leader in digital innovation and financial inclusion.
