Mt. Gox Repayments Stalled Amid Cyber Attack

Early Bitcoin adopters have faced fresh fears after Mt. Gox creditors reported numerous malicious login attempts. This comes nearly 10 years after 850,000 BTC were stolen in the infamous Mt. Gox hack, a significant event in cryptocurrency history.

Efforts to reimburse victims with 141,000 recovered BTC are underway, but recent email alerts have sparked concerns of another attack. Despite the scare, it appears the attackers were unsuccessful due to a quirk in the website’s email system.

A poll of Mt. Gox creditors revealed that 55% plan to hold onto their Bitcoin, reflecting strong faith in the cryptocurrency despite past losses. This incident underscores the long-term implications for security in bankruptcy proceedings and the resilience of early Bitcoin believers.
