Circle shareholder J. Benjamin Greenberg sued US President Donald Trump, his family’s crypto company World Liberty Financial, related entities and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. He alleges that their dealings with foreign governments diverted business from Circle and left its USDC stablecoin unable to compete with World Liberty’s USD1. The filing centers on an Abu Dhabi entity’s $2 billion investment in Binance using USD1 in 2025.
Greenberg asked a federal court to find that Trump violated the Constitution’s Foreign Emoluments Clause, block similar financial interests without Congress’ consent, and award damages. These are allegations and requests, not court findings. Circle said it did not initiate, authorize or participate in the filing.
