Democrats Target Trump, Big Tech After Midterms

Democratic lawmakers said Big Tech executives and people in President Donald Trump’s business circle could face subpoenas and investigations when the new Congress takes office in January. The warnings followed Democrats’ reported midterm victory, but no subpoenas or investigations were announced as underway.

Senator Ed Markey warned of subpoenas for tech executives, while Representative Robert Garcia, the expected incoming House Oversight Committee chairman, said he plans to investigate Trump’s family and other targets. Punchbowl News reported that several tech executives were expected to face scrutiny; it identified the heads of OpenAI and Anthropic as potential witnesses. Democrats have also alleged that Trump profited from crypto ventures, claims cited in their campaign attacks and a November 2025 House Judiciary staff report.
